UAPB Baseball Falls To Eastern Illinois In Game Two

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas —The Golden Lions dropped game two against Eastern Illinois Panthers 8-2 despite the efforts of junior Aiden Martnez, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI Wednesday evening at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.

Senior Andre Greene got the ball to start for UAPB on the mound. Junior Jacob Ehling was a bright spot for the Golden Lions, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two scoreless innings, allowing one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts.

In the batter’s box, the Golden Lions were led by Martinez, who went 2-for-2 on the day with a walk and an RBI. Junior Micah Brown put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 7-0, the Golden Lions first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. UAPB scored twice, with one run coming across on Brown’s single. The Golden Lions were unable to get any closer, as Eastern Illinois added one run to their tally on the way to an 8-2 final.

The Golden Lions will start conference play this weekend against Texas Southern, Friday, March 17.  First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
