Two men were killed in two separate traffic accidents in Pulaski County Thursday afternoon.

In the first of those accidents, reported at 4 p.m., Kevin McKintrush, 44, of Little Rock was northbound on South University Drive on a 2003 Suzuki when a 2015 Isuzu that was southbound made a left turn onto First Tee Way and the motorcycle struck the vehicle.

McKintrush was pronounced dead at the scene. The drive of the vehicle was not injured.

The second accident was reported at 9:15 p.m. on U.S. 67 southbound and Interstate 440 in Jacksonville.

According to the preliminary report, Thomas Rettstatt, 49, of Cabot was actively fleeing Jacksonville Police at a high rate of speed in the in the number four lane when he lost control of the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu he was driving. The vehicle crossed all the lanes of southbound traffic before traveling down the embankment and colliding with a tree.

Rettstatt was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner.

The deaths bring to 283 the number of people killed on the state’s highways so far this year.
