One person was killed and four others injured when the driver of a truck crashed through a busy restaurant in Fort Smith Wednesday afternoon.

According to a preliminary report, the driver, who was not identified in the report, was southbound in the parking lot at State Highway 22, Fort Street and failed to stop, crashing into the north wall of the Blue Agave Mexican Grill and striking four people who were seated in the restaurant.

Heather White, 48, of Rogers was killed and four other people, Meredith Anderson, 70, of Van Buren, Verl Anderson, 64, of Van Buren, Stacy Pope, 52, of Barling and Garrison White, 20, of Rogers were injured and taken to a Fort Smith Hospital.

The accident was reported at 4:32 p.m. and the death was the 510th so far this year on the state’s highways.
