A Searcy woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident in Pulaski County Thursday.

According to a preliminary report, Kathelyn Gallardo, 19, was southbound in the 2500 block of John Harden Drive in Jacksonville when the Chevrolet Camaro she was driving left the roadway and went airborne, crossing the 67-167 off-ramp and striking a traffic light pole.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.

The accident was reported at 12:30 a.m.

A second fatal accident in Pulaski County early Friday morning resulted in the death of a Jacksonville man who was hit by a vehicle that left the scene.

Lawrence Gates, 22, was hit by a vehicle in the 2900 block of Highway 107 in Jacksonville and pronounced dead at the scene.

That accident was reported at 7:46 a.m. and the death brings to 393 the number of people killed in the state’s highways so far this year.
