Three confirmed dead after stand-off in Jefferson County close to White Hall

A standoff with a barricaded suspect in Jefferson County near the White Hall City Limits Saturday afternoon proved deadly as the body of the suspect as well as two other people were discovered.

The armed suspect, who was identified as Jason Rogers, 52, had barricaded himself inside a house on Carney Drive as officers from the White Hall Police Department, Arkansas State Police and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies surrounded the residence.

At about 6:45 p.m., officers entered the house and found the body of Rogers, who is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was the former husband of one of the victims

The bodies of two other people were also found in the house. They were identified as Patrice McDaniel, 52, and her 14-year-old daughter whose name was not released.

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley said Deputy Coroner Kim Brangaccio  pronounced Jason Rogers dead and Deputy Coroner Clyde McDaniel, no relation to the victims, pronounced Patrice McDaniel and her daughter dead at 7:18 p.m.

The bodies will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office Monday for autopsies.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will be investigating the incident since it occurred in the county, rather than in White Hall as was initially believed.
