The Pine Bluff City Council on Monday took the first step in utilizing public and private facilities as event centers.
By a vote of 7-1, the council approved a resolution creating the Pine Bluff Event Center Review Taskforce to “propose and review policies related to allow for the establishment and regulation of event centers.”
Council Member Steven Mays cast the only no vote on the legislation.
After the meeting, Council Member LaTisha Brunson talked about the need for the task force.
Members of the task force will be confirmed by the council and the task force will end in December or until its duties are accomplished.
The task force has no budget and participation in the task force will be as a volunteer.
Also Monday, a resolution authorizing the Mayor to apply for a grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism to develop and improve the multi-purpose park formerly known as Bush Field at 2201 Arlington Street.
That park is now being called the Third Ward Park and Council Member Lanette Frazier talked about the need for the state grant.
