Now that patrons in the Pine Bluff School District have approved a millage increase to finance, among other things, the construction of a new high school, school officials say the next step is for the State Board of Education to return control of the district to a local board.

On Thursday, District Superintendent Jennifer Barbaree said she has talked with state officials and has a plan to make that happen.

Barbaree appeared on the Oldies 1013 morning show and was asked if the board approves the request, would it happen right then or would it take time to accomplish.

Morning show host Greg Horne asked Barbaree when people could expect to see things happen in terms of the new high school and she offered a ballpark estimate of next spring.
