Song on new Beyonce’ album has Little Rock ties

When superstar Beyonce’ recorded her new album “Cowboy Carter”, she included a cover of the Beatles great song “Blackbird”. The song, originally released in 1968, was written by the band when they were studying Transcedental Meditation in India, and while the band was in Scotland. During their time in Scotland, they were made aware of the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S., particularly the incident in Little Rock involving the Little Rock Nine. Paul McCartney asked for the audience to sing the song during his appearance Little Rock in 2016, and mentioned it’s origin.
