Talk about a full-circle moment!

Snoop Dogg is now the proud owner of Death Row Records, the same label that launched his career three decades ago. He signed with the label in 1993 and dropped his debut album, Doggystyle, before later signing with various other labels, including Def Jam.

“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” Snoop said in a statement. “It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members.”

Death Row Records was founded in 1992 by Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, the D.O.C. and Dick Griffey. In addition to Snoop, the label was home to legendary rap icon Tupac Shakur during the 1990s. Ultimately, Death Row filed for bankruptcy in 2006 and bounced around from owner to owner a bit before landing at The Blackstone Group and MRNK Music Group.
