The Drew County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Arkansas State Crime Lab on Tuesday, February 14 that skeletal remains found in Drew County on December 27, 2021 have been identified as belonging to Barry Harmon.
Harmon’s identity was found using dental analysis according to a press release.
His parents reported his missing on January 6, 2015 after he failed to return from a hunting trip in a wooded area near his residence on Hayden Loop in northern Drew County.
A large scale search took place, but he was never found and the search was called off after nearly three weeks.
In the days following the discovery of the skeletal remains the Drew County Sheriff’s Office conducted two separate searches covering a large area near where the partial remains were found.
A cadaver dog from South Louisiana was brought in to assist with one of the searches, however no additional remains have been found.
The Sheriff’s Office has stated that future searches will be conducted.
Sheriff Mark Gober stated “the Drew County Sheriff’s Office extends their thoughts and prayers to the family of Barry Harmon, and with this news it is our prayer that the family can find some closure.”
