The grand opening of the new Sergeant Elga Lee Roberts Jefferson County Veterans Services Office in Pine Bluff was held Wednesday morning with a large crowd in attendance to see Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, Pine Bluff Arsenal Commander Colonel Patrick S. Daulton, Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington, Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson, and others speak about the new center for Jefferson County veterans.
Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson said it was a tough project, but is one that Jefferson County veterans deserved.
There is a large memorial located inside of the court yard of the new center that represents Arkansas veterans that paid the ultimate sacrifice for the United States of America.
The center also features a museum named after Jefferson County veteran and former Sheriff Edward Lewis “Boe” Fontaine.
