Playboi Carti is facing a felony charge for allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend. TMZ reports the rapper was arrested in Georgia back in December for allegedly grabbing the woman by throat, choking her and pushing her. She claims the altercation, which occurred two years into their relationship and 14 weeks into her pregnancy, stemmed from a conversation about a paternity test.

According to the woman, a physical attack ensued, prompting a witness to jump in and break things up. Freed from his grasp, she ran to her car, but Carti caught up to her again. The victim claims the rapper attempted to pull her out of the vehicle and covered her mouth when she tried to call police with the car’s SOS feature, TMZ reports.

Police found her with visible injuries to her neck, chest and back upon their arrival to the scene, according to the outlet.

Carti was arrested, charged with felony assault and released the following day. His lawyer, Brian Steel, is denying the allegations against his client. “Mr. Carter was falsely accused,” he said in a statement, per Complex. “Pursuant to my communications with the Fulton County District Attorney‘s Office, this case will be dismissed without any prosecution or litigation.”
