Dunn was in her patrol car parked at Camelot Apartments at 4001 Old Warren Road when Avery and a second man, Quantavious Sission, who was arrested near the apartments allegedly fired shots at Dunn’s vehicle. She drove herself to the hospital not knowing if she had been shot or not.

Witnesses at the scene told police the shooters ran toward Lincoln Green and while searching the area, the owner of a home on Mockingbird Road said she saw a male put a gun near the fence line behind her house. Police located two Glock handguns that were both equipped with switches that made them fully automatic.

Dunn positively identified Avery after she was shown his photograph.

Prosecutors also said in the criminal information that if Avery is he is subject to an additional period of confinement not to exceed 15 years for using a gun during the commission of another felony.
