A $10,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of choking his girlfriend and firing a shot at her during an altercation.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Trevion Smith, 22, with aggravated assault on a family or household member.
Reading from an affidavit by Detective Sgt. Keith Banks, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West said in the early morning hours Tuesday, police were sent to a residence on West 25th in response to a reported disturbance.
Banks reported that the victim’s mother and grandmother told police about the altercation and Smith was taken back to the scene where the victim was located.
When Smith was questioned, he said the victim tried to hit him and he stopped her. He denied choking her and denied firing a shot at her. He said he shot at the tire of the vehicle she tried to run over him with.
Smith was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Nov. 6.
