A Pine Bluff man who was arrested Saturday night and accused of shooting another man to death made his first court appearance in Pine Bluff District Court Monday.
John Carter, 44, was accused of shooting 29-year-old Otis Daniels twice in the back as Daniels ran from Carter’s residence at 1120 E. 34th Ave.
During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said at 11:09 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the area of 34th Avenue and Missouri Street in response to a report of a man down and lying in the middle of the street.
When Daniels was questioned, he confirmed the account of witnesses to the incident and admitted that Daniels struck him in the face several times and he went into his residence,got a revolver and shot Daniels twice while he was running away.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney agreed to Akel’s request that Carter be held with no bond on probable cause of capital murder and ordered Carter to come back to court Nov. 8.
Little Rock attorney Ronald Davis appeared in court and said he had been hired to represent Carter.
