While much of the attention was paid to increasing teacher salaries, the LEARNS Act, which was proposed by Governor Sarah Huckaby Sanders and approved by the Arkansas General Assembly contained a number of other provisions, including one that required students to perform community service in order to graduate.

On Tuesday, Pine Bluff School District Superintendent Jennifer Barbaree was asked about that provision when she appeared on the Oldies 1013 morning show.

Barbaree then went on to say this.

Morning show host Greg Horne told Barbaree for this to work, there has to be a plan in place because otherwise, you could look up and it’s April, the student is supposed to graduate in May, and still has to do 75 hours of community service.
