Vera “June” Elmore Abbott, 89
1934-2024

Born June 3, 1934, in Lonoke County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Hettie Elmore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Abbott. They were in a loving marriage for 49 years and owned and operated Abbott Supply Company in Grady for more than 30 years. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Elmore.

June was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Grady, where she taught Sunday School. Faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she led by example to those around her. Floyd and June built homes in McGehee and then Mountain Home after retirement. After his death, she moved to Star City and became a faithful member of First United Methodist Church.

They loved to travel, visiting China, Africa, Mexico, South America, and parts of Europe, as well and many areas of the United States.

Survivors include a son, John Abbott and his wife Marsha, of McGehee; a daughter, Melissa Abbott Keahey and her husband Wayne, of Star City; five grandchildren, Jesse Abbott and his wife Heather, Carmen Abbott, Jared Keahey and his wife Hilary, Anna Bitely and her husband Colton, and Aaron Keahey and his wife Jenna; eight great-grandchildren, Avery, Sophie, Annabelle, and Adler Abbott, Floyd, Audie, Lilian, and Mattie Grace Keahey complete the family.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM Friday, April 12, 2024 at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Star City with Rev. Russell Hull officiating. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Star City, followed by a time of visiting with the family. Pallbearers are Jesse Abbott, Jared Keahey, Aaron Keahey, Paul Moore, Barry Saffold, Mike McMillan, Marty Chambers, and Dustin Moore.
