Shaundraya Latrece Perry Ferguson, 46
1978-2024

Shaundraya LaTrece Perry Ferguson, affectionately known as “Shaun”, was born to John Perry and the late Cassandra Louise Williams on August 31, 1978, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She confessed her faith in Christ, at an early age, at Indiana Street Baptist Church, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, under the leadership of Dr. L.K. Solomon. She later joined Cornerstone Baptist Church, in Arlington, TX, under the leadership of Senior Pastor Dwight McKissic.

She began her high school career at Pine Bluff High School and graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1996. She was both a proud Zebra AND a Wildcat, often boasting about experiencing, “the best of both worlds!” Upon graduation, Shaundraya moved to Arlington, Texas where she worked several years with Capital One and later joined General Motors Financial where she worked diligently, until her health failed.

In 1995, Shaun met the love of her life, Chad Ferguson. Their sacred union took place on October 29, 2004, marking the beginning of a marriage that spanned two decades. From this loving bond, they welcomed two children, Jaylen and Chasity, who brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Shaundraya was the essence of a devoted sports mother. From the early days of pee wee baseball to the heights of AAU and high school competitions, and onward to the professional minor league baseball world with the Baltimore Orioles organization, she supported her son Jaylen tirelessly. Equally dedicated to her daughter Chasity’s volleyball efforts, she made sure her children saw her cheering from the stands and supporting them 110%. Beyond her commitment as a sports mom, Shaundraya was known for her passion for food, earning her the title of a “foodie”. She loved trying new recipes and was never afraid to try a new restaurant, no matter the cultural difference. To all who had the privilege of knowing her, Shaundraya was a beacon of light with her infectious smile leaving a lasting impression of joy and kindness on everyone she encountered.

Shaun once shared a social media post: “I missed my calling; I should have been a life coach/counselor. I LOVE talking it out with my friends and family until we find a solution. It’s not always about fixing others’ problems but providing guidance as they discover solutions”. Her heartfelt post was an example of Shaun’s guidance to her cherished friends and family.

Shaundraya LaTrece Perry Ferguson departed this life on March 20, 2024, at Medical City of Arlington in Arlington, Texas. She was proceeded in death by her mother Cassandra Louise Williams; paternal grandparents, William D. and Mildred L. Perry; maternal grandfather, Riley Gene Williams and Uncle Rodney Eugene Williams.
