Roy Elwin Elliott, 76
1947-2024

Roy Elwin Elliott was born June 20, 1947, in Conway, AR, to William B. and Bernice Simpson Elliott. Being born into a military family who moved from time to time, he graduated from Deming High School in Deming, NM. He later returned to Arkansas and attended college at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he received Bachelor’s degrees in both Chemistry and Biology. Captain Elliott served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired after 22 years of service. Roy became a lab analyst at International Paper and worked for over 35 years until his retirement in 2008. In his early years, Roy was a Boy Scout leader. He was a member of the American Legion and formerly served as Vice Commander. In his spare time, he loved fishing and building model trains and cars. He was an avid Razorback fan, and especially enjoyed baseball season.

Roy passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the age of 76 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Becky Jane Fowler Elliott; and his siblings, Peggy Elliott and Billie Jo Elliott

Survivors include his son, Brian Elliott; one daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Wajid Shaik; two grandchildren, Micah and Michael Shaik of Katy, Texas; sister-in-law Susan VonTungeln and nephew Ryan Hardin, nephew William Dale “Bubba” VonTungeln, nephew Matthew Braden VonTungeln and niece Ashley Brianne VonTungeln of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; nephew Ralph Curtis Jr., niece Jennifer Gaw, and niece Melissa Somoza of Tucson, Arizona and a number of other relatives.

Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 P.M. Sunday, March 10, 2024, and funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 11, 2024, both in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors.
