1928-2024
Polly Anne King Lewellen 95 of Dumas passed away peacefully in Dermott on March 15, 2024. She was born April 4, 1928, in Dumas, AR to the late Thomas Leslie and Nina Marie Hocking King. Polly was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas Lee Lewellen one sister Erma Miller, two sons Dr. John Lewellen and Jerry Bob Lewellen, two daughters Sharon Sumrall and Cindy Deno, one grandson Matt Lewellen and one great grandson Landon Lamb.
Polly was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dumas and was a graduate of Dumas High School in the class of 1946 as the Salutatorian. She became a medical transcriptionist at Delta Memorial Hospital in Dumas and then Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock for 36 years before retiring.
She is survived by one son Dr. Thomas (Mary) Lewellen of Dumas and one daughter Becky (David) McNeely of McGehee, eleven grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, and two great- great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, March18, 2024 from 1:00-2:00pm with service to follow at 2:00pm both at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Walnut Lake Cemetery with Rev. James Thomason officiating. Memorials may be made in memory of Polly Lewellen to First Baptist Church, 200 E. Waterman, Dumas, AR 71639.
