Josette Shauntelle Hayes, 50, of McGehee, Arkansas passed away April 11, 2024. “Shaune” was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She was raised in rural southeast Arkansas near Montrose. Shaune raised her two sons with her husband in McGehee, Arkansas, while working at the McGehee High School, before later moving to Rohwer, Arkansas.
Throughout the rollercoaster of life, Shaune was a fighter. She persevered through many obstacles that contributed to making her the strong woman she was. Shaune took pride in her family, and loved her people immensely. She was a light in many people’s lives.
Josette Shauntelle “Shaune” Hayes is preceded in death by her father, Thomas “Tommy” Ellingburg. She is survived by her mother, Glenda Barnett; husband, James Dewayne Hayes; two sons, Michael (Destinee) Hayes and Mark (Alyssa) Hayes; four sisters, Jennie “Michelle” McDaniel, Carla Morgan (Kevin Sr.), Christina “Cricket” Williams, and Julie Morgan; two brothers Jimmy Lawson (Beth) and Christopher Morgan; and 6 grandchildren, Nathan, Jaxson, Jakob, Malikye, Nikolus, and Ryleigh; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Visitation will be held at 11:00am-1:00pm Monday, April 15, 2024 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Graveside service will follow at 2:00pm at Trafalgar Cemetery in Ashley County, AR with Bro. Christopher Morgan officiating.
