Henry Earl Whitmire, 90
1933-2024

Henry Earl Whitmire of Sheridan, Arkansas was born November 18, 1933 in Sheridan, the son of the late Henry Frank and Thelma Mae Edwards Whitmire. He was a retired truck driver, a 50 year member of Marlow Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for over 47 years.

He was a Staff Sgt, and a partially disabled Veteran of the United States Army, member of Gilmore Hunting Club, enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, and playing Dominoes at the church with his friends every Thursday. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, studying the Bible, and serving the Lord with his church family.

Mr. Whitmire passed away at his home on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the age of 90, surrounded by the love of his life and his 3 precious children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carilee Whitmire, Dean Whitmire; sisters, Armetha Holmes and Zella Mae Harris.

Survivors: wife and caregiver, Marilyn Paxton Whitmire of Sheridan; son, Marty (LeAnn) Whitmire of Sheridan, Kenny Whitmire of St. John, US Virgin Islands; daughter, Julie (Mike) Peery of East End; 6 grandchildren, Eddie (Savannah) Ellis, Adrianne (Tyler) Campbell, Dylan (Linda) Peery, Mallory (Russell) Ward, Jenna (Weston) Jones, Paxton (Caroline) Peery; 10 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Marlow Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. John Mark Williams, Bro. Bob Oden and Bro. Tyler Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
