1934-2024
Geneva Mae Anders Shumake, 89 years old of Star City, met her Lord on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Born November 28, 1934 in Prescott to the late William T. “Add” and Vesta Anders. Geneva was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Star City and she worked for Byrd’s Manufacturing and Levi Strauss as a supervisor for many years; she loved her dogs, embroidery and reading.
She was married to H. F. Shumake, Jr. until his death on December 13, 1999. Also preceding her in death was one grandson, Cameron Harrison; son-in-law, Duke Rice; two brothers, Tony Anders and James Lloyd Anders; and two sisters, Doris Hicks Schmall and Mildred Cantrell.
She is survived by one son, Jerry Shumake (Alice); three daughters, Gwen Dowdy (Billy), Kathy Rice, and Ginger Fowler (Merwin), all of Star City. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, Steven Drake, Richard Shumake, April Shafer, Brian Harrison, Jaime Phillips, Justin Fowler, Lindsey Weast, and Kerri Robinson; twenty great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral services are 2:00PM Friday, April 19, 2024 at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City with Bro. Don Borland and Bro. Justin Holt officiating. Visitation is 12:00-2:00PM Friday at the funeral home.
