Edward “Ed” C Hardin, 80
1943-2024

Edward “Ed” C. Hardin III, 80 years old of Grady, passed away April 19, 2024 in Jacksonville, AR. He was born November 14, 1943 in Star City to the late E.C. and Sarah Hardin. He was a member of Grady United Methodist Church, the Grady Hunting Club, and served on the Grady Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years. He enjoyed cooking at the Grady Lions Club Fish Fry each year and at the Annual Steak Supper at Grady United Methodist Church.

Ed was a life-long resident of Grady where he attended Grady Public School until 9th grade where he then transferred to Star City School to finish his education. Ed joined the National Guard shortly after school and then worked for Ralph Robinson Mortuary in Pine Bluff.

The remainder of Ed’s work life was spent with C&L Electric Corporation in Star City. He worked there for 44 years before retiring. His experience and knowledge made him a valuable asset to the Grady residents and farmers. During after work hours and on weekends, he liked to help people with any electrical needs. After his retirement, Ed served as the mayor of Grady for 8 years.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, E.C. and Sarah Hardin; one daughter, Brandy Adams; and one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Ison.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Hardin of Jacksonville; one son, Rodney Hardin (Carrie) of Hot Springs; one daughter, Kimberly Ison (Kevin) of Greenbrier; and one brother, Randy Hardin (Debbie) of Grady. Other survivors include six grandchildren, Garrett Hardin (Meredith), Nick Wharton (Heather), Caitlin Collison, Cecile Adams, Paige Adams, Landon Hardin; four great-grandchildren, Hudson Hardin, Caroline Hardin, Benny Wharton, Beau Ison Davis; two nephews, Josh Hardin, Jodie Hardin; and one son-in-law, Richard Adams.

Due to his decline in health, he had to withdraw from community activities, but he never lost his love for the town or his interests in the people. He could be seen sitting in his truck for long periods to observe the activity of the day. He will be missed.

Funeral services are 2:30PM Monday, April 22, 2024 at Grady Cemetery with Roger Milligan officiating. Visitation is 1:00-2:00PM Monday at the Grady United Methodist Church. Pallbearers are Garett Hardin, Landon Hardin, Geraldo Mejia, Jody Hardin, Kevin Ison, and Nick Wharton. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Johnson and Charles Knight.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jacksonville Animal Shelter and Amy’s Animal Rescue.
