Mr. D.C. Young Sr. was born on September 15, 1934, in Alligator, Mississippi, to the late Esther Lee Daniels. He passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2022, at his home.
Mr. Young embraced Christianity at an early age and attended local churches. He dedicated over 55 years of his life to Dollar General, working as a Truck Driver. In his leisure time, he found joy in playing cards and dominoes, often hosting gatherings for these games. Additionally, he developed a passion for hunting in his later years.
In 1978, Mr. Young married Janice Payton, his beloved wife, who passed away on September 24, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his mother Esther Lee Daniel, his daughter Debbie Lacy, and siblings Willie Lane, Curtis, Arlee Young, and Carlee Harvey.
Mr. Young is survived by his two sons, Gary Lewis Barnett of Midland, Georgia, and D.C. Young Jr. of Dumas, Arkansas, three daughters: Carolyn Sue Young-Murry, Barbara Young-Grider, and Joyce Young, all of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, his brother Charles Lane of Bakersfield, California, and sisters Sally Coleman and Erma Magee of Yuba City, California. Additionally, he leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and host other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
