1938-2024
Dr. John Boyce Davis, age 85 of Monticello, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. He was born March 11, 1938, in Lake Village, AR to the late John Bill Davis and Neice Sharp Davis.
Boyce graduated from McGehee High School before receiving his BS and Masters degrees from Arkansas A&M University (now UAM). He then obtained his Doctorate of Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. He retired from the University of Arkansas at Monticello as a professor after 34 years of service. Boyce's hobbies including hunting, fishing, walking, jogging where he competed in many marathons, coaching baseball, exercising everyday, and spending time with his family and dog, Eli.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Jean Davis of Monticello; a son, John Kevin Davis and wife Clarisa; a daughter, Leah Roxanne Davis; grandchildren, John Tyler Funderburg and wife Samantha, Jake Phillips and Laila Rain Davis; and great grandchildren, Bennett and Maybree Funderburg.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family requests memorials be made to the Boyce Davis Foundation Scholarship or St. Jude's Hospital.
