Bobby Franklin Phillips, 89
1934-2024

Bobby Franklin Phillips was born June 12, 1934, in Pine Bluff, to Drayton Thomas Phillips and Lavinia Crossett Phillips. He was a 1950 graduate of Watson Chapel High School. After graduating, Bobby joined the United States Navy and served stateside in Mobile, AL. After his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Pine Bluff and became an insurance agent, working for Union Life Insurance and also McNew Insurance Agency. A career change led him to Motes Buick where he worked for over 10 years. His next and final job was working for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office as a Bailiff for the Honorable Bob Tolson in the Municipal Court until his retirement.

Bobby was a former member of the Jacob Brump Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He also was a member of the Jefferson County Mounted Patrol, and was a former member of the VFW, having attended many functions there throughout the years.

His greatest love of all was show horses. Bobby had won many State Championships over the years doing so. He later competed with Racking Horses and won the 50 and older World Championship.

Bobby passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Herbert and Carey Phillips; a sister, Eunice Phillips; and the mother of his children, Charlene Marie Scarbrough.

Survivors include his sons, Tracy, Todd, and Travis Phillips; his grandchildren, Josh, Katelyn, Brandon, and Michael Phillips; great-grandson, Beckett Phillips; and sister-in-law, Jo Ann Phillips.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Celebrant Marty Shell officiating, with eulogies by Dr. Tracy Phillips and the Honorable Bob Tolson.
