The Sheridan School Board voted unanimously to hire former Pulaski Academy coach Kevin Kelley as the head coach of the Yellowjackets on Monday night. On Tuesday night Kelley was introduced to Yellowjackets fans at the Sheridan vs. Pine Bluff varsity boys’ basketball game.

Kelley spoke with Deltaplex News following the game to give his thoughts on what made him decide to coach at Sheridan.

Kelley hasn’t been able to meet the team yet, but he hopes to be able to do so soon.

Kelley said he hasn’t watched film on the Yellowjackets varsity team, but he was able to break down film on the freshman team due to helping kids he trained that played in a game between Sheridan and Pulaski Academy.

Adam DePriest, a long-time Kelley assistant, will coach at Sheridan with Kelley. He shared what DePriest brings to the table.

Kelley looked into the Sheridan job a year ago, but did not take it then. Now he is head coach after Tyler Turner resigned to take a job in Tennessee. Kelley said it just goes to show what can happen in a year’s time.
