Mayor reacts to Pine Bluff School District plans

A representative of the Pine Bluff School District on Wednesday said that the district will realign its building use for the next school year with the current plan to shut down the Pine Bluff High School campus, and high school students moving to the campus of Jack Robey. Ninth-grade students will go to the Dollarway High School while 7th and 8th-grade students will attend school at the Robert Morehead building.

Appearing on TalkBack Live Thursday, Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington was asked about those plans, and if there was anything she could do by Floyd Washington. The Mayor answered this way.

Superintendent Barbara Warren was originally scheduled to attend the meeting, which had been called by district employees to voice complaints about safety and security issues, low pay, and bad communication with administrators but a district spokesman said Warren was unable to make it.
