A couple of local residents are teaming up to collect food for Mississippi residents whose town was wiped out by a tornado last week.

Jeff Edwards and Hosea Jackson are heading up the Rolling Fork Food Drive with Jackson planning to drive an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer to the Mississippi this weekend. Rolling Fork, a community located 80 miles from Greenville, Miss., was basically destroyed.

Appearing on Talk Back Live with Floyd Donald Wednesday, Edwards said after hearing about the tornado, he and some of his friends got together and decided to help.

Edwards said he started sending text messages to people on the ground in Rolling Fork.

He said he has spoken to several people about helping and also contacted ministers and members of fraternities and sororities.

Edwards can be contacted at 870-489-3909.
