Pine Bluff native Makiyah Mustiful sang “Bang Bang” by Jessie J., Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj on American Idol’s Top 20 Monday night. The singer applied to audition when she discovered one slot remaining at a nearby venue and was eventually accepted to perform on the show.
At this point, Makiyah is waiting to learn whether she will make it to the Top 14. After Monday night’s show, no one was cut because 10 of the 20 remaining contestants must still perform on Monday, March 23rd. Who is cut and who will advance will be announced in the episode that will air on Monday, March 30th.
Makiyah comes from a musically inclined family and spent many years singing in her church.
