PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Jefferson Regional Medical Center is recognizing its nursing staff this week as part of National Nurses Week, kicking off the celebration Monday with a show of appreciation for the hospital’s frontline caregivers.

Hospital officials marked the beginning of the week by thanking nurses for their dedication, skill and compassion, noting the vital role they play in patient care every day. Staff members were invited to start their shifts with a lighthearted treat as part of the festivities.

“Donut you know we love you,” organizers shared, as nurses gathered to enjoy fresh donuts, connect with colleagues and take a brief moment of appreciation before beginning their workday.

National Nurses Week is observed annually from May 6 through May 12, ending on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The week is dedicated to recognizing the contributions of nurses across the country and highlighting the essential role they play in healthcare systems.

At Jefferson Regional, leaders say the celebration is a small way to acknowledge the long hours, critical responsibilities and compassionate care nurses provide to patients and families throughout Southeast Arkansas.

The hospital plans to continue recognizing its nursing staff throughout the week with additional activities and expressions of gratitude as part of the nationwide observance.
