Jefferson County Quorum Court Shows New Unity Under Interim Judge Whitfield

The Jefferson County Quorum Court made quick work of their meeting last night, with no sign of the contentiousness and petty back and forth that had been a trademark of the JPs over the last 18 months.

A total of 26 appropriation ordinances were addressed, from law enforcement to county operations to upgrades in technology.

Many of the ordinances were in the early reading stages, but were advanced and passed. After the meeting, interim County Judge Ivan Whitfield, who was overseeing his first official meeting, was asked what the difference was in the demeanor of the court.

Whitfield was also asked if he thought a new “open door” policy has been effective.
