Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson is seeking another four-year term and is facing a run-off on March 31 against attorney Effrem Neely for the Democrat Party nomination.
On Tuesday, Robinson was a guest on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show where host Greg Horne asked about the monthly Quorum Court meeting Monday night where a majority of the JP’s turned down several appropriations Robinson had asked for.
Justice of the Peace Reginald Johnson, one of those who voted against the appropriations said Monday that he believed Robinson was spending money too fast, prompting Horne to asked Robinson to explain why not as many roads are getting worked on. “They say you’re spending too much money, and you say they’re not appropriating it.”
Horne noted that in previous interviews, Robinson always talked about the county needing to reduce the number of employees because of a declining tax base and now 8 JPs are saying he is spending too much money.
“When costs go up you’ve got to adjust the budget,” Robinson said, then went on to say this.
