After promising during a Friday press conference to be open and transparent about changes to be made in the wake of the death of an 84-year-old woman on June 10th at the Carl Redus, Jr. Aquatics Center, Deltaplex News was denied the ability to cover a meeting held this morning at the facility. Deltaplex News’ Haleigh Reichen was invited by concerned citizens to attend the meeting between the Mayor, personnel at the Aquatics Center and those who still have questions that were not answered during the press conference on Friday. The changes the Mayor outlined during the press conference and in materials handed out are being discussed with the staff.

After being denied the opportunity to cover the meeting, Deltaplex News issued the following email to the Mayor’s Communications Director.

“Since our reporter was not allowed in an open meeting that she was invited to, Deltaplex News is making a formal FOIA request for a full readout of the meeting. This is a blatant flaunting of the Open Records Act and we expect the read out in the next 72 hours. After that time, we will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office. We expect a reply back in the next few hours informing us that this message was received. The law must be followed”
