A Confederate statue is being removed from the Jefferson County courthouse property.
Removal of the statue began at 6 a.m. Saturday morning.
The United Daughters of the Confederacy agreed to take possession of the statue and move it to the Confederate cemetery in Sulphur Springs.
DeltaplexNews.com has been told a private donor has paid for the removal of the statue, and that it will still be moved to the Confederate cemetery.
