The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is reminding farm families that applications for the Arkansas Century Farm Program are open now through July 31st. Agriculture Secretary Wes Ward says the program recognizes Arkansas families who have owned and continuously farmed the same land for 100 years or more, honoring their longstanding contributions to the state’s agricultural heritage…
“The Arkansas Century Farm Program began in 2012 as a way to recognize and honor the Arkansas farm families that for generations have dedicated their lives to serving others and providing the food, fiber, fuel and shelter that every single one of us depend on every single day of our lives,” Ward said…
The program is voluntary, and there is no cost to apply. To qualify, the same family must have owned the farm for at least 100 years by December 31st, 2026, and the farm must include at least ten acres of the original land acquisition and make a financial contribution to the overall farm income…
Since its inception in 2012, 687 farms have been inducted into the Century Farm Program. Applications are available online at agriculture.arkansas.gov
