Long time local baseball coach Sebastian Stargell will be hosting a “Pro-Day” in June in an effort to revive interest in the sport.
Stargell was a guest on Talk Back Live and explained the event to host Floyd Donald.
Asked why he was doing it, Stargell said in addition to bringing some attention to Townsend Park, he wanted to “get baseball back where it was.”
Donald asked Stargell what he attributed the drop off in interest in baseball and Stargell answered this way.
The Pro-Day event will be June 6 and 7with registration beginning at 9 a.m. each day and Stargell said boys will be divided up by age with ages 9 to 12, 13 to 15 and 16 and up on separate fields. For information, contact Stargell at 870-872-2345.
