Until Monday, Lincoln County was one of the few counties in Southeast Arkansas that had not instituted a burn ban.

Lincoln County Judge Buddy Lynn Earnest was a guest on the Oldies 1013 morning show Tuesday and announced the ban.

Earnest was asked what happens if people ignore the ban and answered this way.

On another subject, Earnest talked about efforts to improve broadband service in Lincoln County.

Earnest, who was re-elected to another four-year term during the May primaries said if things work out as planned, he has about four more years of being able to apply for grants with the company picking a different area to provide the service in each of those years. He said the decision is not up to the county judge.
