A press conference at the White Hall Community Center Tuesday kicked off preparations for the annual battle between the White Hall Bulldogs and the Sheridan Yellowjackets to begin the high school football season.
For the last five years, the winner of the game has received the Highway 270 trophy, sponsored by FBT Bank and Deltaplex Radio, and White Hall has come out on the winning end for the last four years. They also have a 31-22 advantage in the series, with three ties.
This year will pit two legendary coaches against each other, Darryl Patton, who one four state championships coaching at Fayetteville and is coaching his first game as the head coach at White Hall, and Kevin Kelly, who won nine state championships as the head coach at Pulaski Academy. Kelly is in his first year as the coach of the Yellowjackets.
Each coach was given the opportunity to talk about their team and the upcoming game, beginning with Patton.
Then Kelly stepped up to the mike.
Deltaplex Radio will broadcast all the Sheridan games on Oldies 1013 and all the White Hall games can be heard on 98.1 the Hog, beginning with the Central Moloney pre-game at 6:30 and the Saracen Casino game broadcast starting at 7.
