With the current session of the Arkansas Legislature drawing to a close, some lawmakers are talking about a possible special session for redistricting.

According to reports, State Senator Jason Rapert, R-Conway, is talking about a special session for redistricting due to a delay in getting census data.  Sen. Rapert is the head of the Senate State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Every ten years, the state agencies of the state legislature redraw Congressional district lines in accordance with the census.  Lines for the 100 House Districts and 35 Senate Districts are also redrawn by the Board of Apportionment which consists of the Governor, Attorney General, and Secretary of State.
