When the Pine Bluff City Council meets Tuesday night, one of the items on the agenda is a proposed ordinance that would impose a six-month moratorium on the opening of small box discount stores in Ward 1 of the city.

The ordinance will be up for its first reading and is sponsored by First Ward Council member LaTisha Brunson.

On Tuesday, 1013 morning show host Greg Horne asked Brunson to explain her thought process in sponsoring the legislation.

Brunson went on to explain that the residents of her ward need access to a full service grocery store.

She said she had heard discussion about extending the moratorium throughout all four wards and hope the other members of the council will support this legislation.

Brunson was also asked if the plan was to use the former Super 1 store and answered this way.
