According to the Hollywood Reporter, Keke Palmer has joined the cast of Being Mortal, a film written by actor Aziz Ansari and based on the Atul Gawande nonfiction book, Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End.
The Emmy Award-winning star says she’s “super psyched” to be joining the cast and, after 20 years in the industry this year, she’s “thankful” for the opportunity.
“Walked on set the other day while Bill Murray played ODB and Seth [Rogen] rapped every lyric,” she wrote on Instagram. “Don’t call me Mc Donald’s, but baby, I’m loving it! (horribly cheesy but hopefully it made u laugh hahahahaha) Thankful and engaged.”
Palmer’s new gig comes not long after the release of her recent thriller film, Alice, seemingly marking a pattern of suspense projects the actress might be taking a liking to.
The premise of the film has yet to be revealed but the book explores the topics of death and age-related frailty and discusses the medical field’s mishandling of both.
Aziz Ansari will make his directorial debut and star in the Searchlight Pictures project.
