Financial woes involving hospital operations nationwide have been in the news recently and recent reports that Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello is in talks with Baptist Health bring the problem close to home. Farther South, a group associated with Murphy Oil has announced plans to buy the South Arkansas Regional Hospital at El Dorado with that deal to close in September.

On Tuesday, Brian Thomas, the CEO of Jefferson Regional Hospital talked about some of the financial problems facing hospitals today.

Thomas was a guest on the Oldies 1013 morning show and went to say this about the reimbursement hospitals receive for their services.

He also talked about Drew Memorial Hospital at Monticello.

Morning show host Greg Horne then asked Thomas if there was a danger of Jefferson Regional falling into the same situation as Drew Memorial has.
