Grant County officials are preparing the former First Baptist Church of Sheridan, which the county bought recent, for extensive renovations.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, Grant County Judge Randy Pruitt said crews have been focused on cleaning out the building, hauling away numerous loads of garbage and other miscellaneous junk that had accumulated.

He was quoted as saying the next step will be to install a new roof on the building.

“We obviously have some big renovations planned for the building, but before we begin doing those, we’ve got to get a new roof installed,” he said. “We want to focus on getting and keeping it dry before we do much with the interior.”
