Golden Lion Falls To Prairie View A&M

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — UAPB fell 38-14 to Prairie View A&M on the road Saturday afternoon.

Johnny Williams paced the Golden Lions rushing attack by accumulating 88 yards and one touchdown over the course of the game, averaging 4 yards per carry. Mekhi Hagens also added 40 yards and one touchdown on the ground, averaging 5.7 yards per carry.

Rico Dozier paced the UAPB defensive effort, collecting 12 tackles, followed by Rylan Woods with eight.

UAPB’s defense held up fairly well against the run, limiting Prairie View A&M to 189 yards on the ground.

How It Happened

After Prairie View A&M took a 24-0 lead, UAPB responded with 9:50 left in the third quarter to narrow the margin to 24-7.After Prairie View A&M scored to increase its lead to 31-7, the Golden Lions scored again to cut into the lead and make it a 31-14 game. The Panthers added seven more points to finish off the scoring.

» The Golden Lions had two players with more than eight tackles in the ballgame led by Dozier, who had 12.

The Golden Lions will be back in action, Friday, Nov. 10, when they host Grambling St at Simmons Bank Field on ESPNU.  Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ct.
