Golden Lions Drop Season Finale Against Alabama A&M

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff dropped their season finale on the road in Huntsville, Alabama Saturday afternoon. The Golden Lions lost to the defending SWAC champion Alabama A&M Bulldogs 52-24.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early two touchdown lead in the opening quarter, after an interception thrown by Skyler Perry inside the Golden Lions 10 yard line. Trailing by 14, Pine Bluff scored on a 17 yard touchdown pass from Perry to Josh Wilkes on a short crossing route to pull within a score. The teams would alternate scoring, with the Golden Lions scoring on a 2 yard touchdown run by Kierre Crossley and a 30 yard field goal by Zach Piwniczka. Alabama A&M would score three times in the second quarter, taking a 35-17 lead into halftime.

The Golden Lions would pull within eleven, scoring on the opening drive in the second half with a 35-24 score. The Bulldogs would prove too much for Arkansas-Pine Bluff, scoring twice in the third and again in the fourth to close out the game.

Skyler Perry finished the day 22-42-220 yards with a touchdown and an interception while also rushing 13-85 yards and a touchdown. Crossley posted a 22 carry 138 yard performance with a score. Josh Wilkes lead the Golden Lions in catches with 7 for 54 yards and a touchdown, while Tyrin Ralph led in yardage with 90 on 4 grabs.

UAPB finished the season 1-7 in SWAC play, and 2-9 overall.
