The annual King Cotton Holiday Classic basketball tournament is less than two weeks away and on Friday, Ryan Watley, the CEO of Go Forward Pine Bluff, who was responsible for bringing the tournament back was a guest on the Oldies 1013 morning show.

Watley said one of the first things Go Forward did, was to use some of the sales tax receipts to upgrade the convention center including improving technology, some of the displays and the restrooms.

Morning show host then asked Watley about the planned Marriott hotel adjacent to the center and if there will be enough activity to support it.

Watley went on to say that when organizes were attempting to attract the Gulf South Division Two conference basketball tournament to the convention center this happened.

He said athletics at UAPB can also be a factor as they participate in 15 different sports.
