Two separate accidents in Chicot County over the weekend resulted in the deaths of four people.

Three of those deaths occurred as the result of a two-vehicle Friday while the fourth person died in a one-vehicle accident Sunday.

According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, a 2019 Nissan Frontier driven by Fenton M. Dunn, 59, of McGehee was northbound on Highway 165 when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2009 Nissan driven by Kiarra Jordan, 28, also of McGehee that had been southbound.

Dunn, Jordan and a minor male passenger that had been in Jordan’s vehicle were killed in the accident.

On Sunday, Desmond Rowe, 31, of Lake Village died when the 2010 Dodge Challenger he was driving at a high rate of speed failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway on the north side and struck an embankment. The vehicle overturned and Rowe was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

The four fatalities bring to 526 the number of people who have been killed on the state’s highways so far this year.
