The Drew County Quorum Court on Monday adopted legislation authorizing the county to pay premium pay to employees who worked during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic who were not included in the initial premium pay ordinance.

According to the Advance Monticellonian newspaper, county employees who had retired or left the county were not initially included in the premium pay legislation, and at that time, there were questions about how the premium pay would affect retirees’ benefits.

In March, County Judge Robert Akin said he would come up with an ordinance to resolve the issue and it was adopted with little discussion.

Former employees may call their former place of employment to see if they are owned money and if so, how much. They will also be told when the checks will be ready to be picked up at the Drew County Clerk’s Office.
